Peridot

Peridot is from the mineral olivine. It is a transparent-translucent gemstone with a rich and bold green colour.

This mysterious stone is sometimes found in meteorites which can hold remnants of our solar systems birth. In 2005 they found Peridot in comet dust on the stardust robotic probe.

Peridot has something known as double refraction, when you look at the stone closely you can see two of each facet. This wondrous stone is said to bring good luck and peace as well as strength to the wearer. There was a time where it was vastly believed that Peridot found in volcanic ashes were the tears of the volcano Goddess, Pele.

August is the birth month associated with Peridot.
