9K gold

9 CARAT GOLD:

9ct gold is the most common gold used in South Africa; however it is vastly unheard of in other parts of the world.

People have heard many myths about 9K gold such as “it will tarnish”. 9K gold is the most affordable form of gold; it has a light yellow hue due to it mostly being made up of other metals.

The composition of 9K gold is as follows: 37.5% pure gold (hence the 375 stamp) 42.5% silver and 20% copper. Our 9K yellow gold is nickel free.

9K gold is very durable. It is the first choice for gold jewellery as it is strong, doesn’t dent or scratch and doesn’t wear.

All jewellery needs to be maintained and polished to prevent it from going dull.

About us

Cambanos and Son Agencies is a family business started by Jean and Dennis Cambanos in 1982, it was a small curio wholesaler working out of an office in Johannesburg town centre. They offered customers something extra, personal service and the pledge that they would always make sure the customer was happy.

Our mission

The business is now one of the biggest in South Africa, supplying the world with African curios. But the pledge remains the same “Make sure the customer is happy” and hope they eventually become friends. The business is still run by the family today; Gerry Cambanos is only a phone call away if you require a piece of Africa in your home.
